Plan a job before a purchase

Material, time and unit cost.

Use your own dimensions, allowances and observed timing. Manufacturer headline speed is never turned into promised production time.

The rectangle worksheet compares two uniform grids when rotation is explicitly allowed. It does not optimize mixed shapes, grain, clamps, fixture keep-outs or a real cut path. Extra pieces are a planning reserve, not a measured reject rate. No operating recipe or material approval is implied.

Keep each cost distinct.

Plan extra pieces = round desired quantity × (1 + entered reserve ÷100) upward. Sheets = planned pieces ÷ entered rectangular yield, rounded upward. Material cost charges whole sheets; it is not material consumed exactly.

Machine budget applies to setup plus machine-run time. Labor budget applies to setup plus handling, machine-run and finishing time. Keep labor out of the machine hourly budget to avoid charging it twice. This arithmetic does not change supervision or operating requirements.

Currency components and allocated unit costs round to the nearest cent. Estimated unit cost allocates the planned job cost across the desired finished quantity. Your chosen selling price is separate. A unit margin is arithmetic before unmodeled fees/taxes/defects; it predicts neither demand, income nor break-even sales.

Separate the sheet, the pieces and the time

Geometry assumptions: Border margins and entered inter-part spacing reduce a uniform rectangular yield. Rotation needs explicit permission; grain, clamps and mixed nesting remain outside this grid.

Whole-sheet charges: Planned pieces include your reserve assumption. The worksheet charges whole sheets rather than pretending all stock is consumed exactly.

Time and unit basis: Setup, handling, machine-run and finishing time have separate roles. Allocate job cost across the desired finished quantity; a chosen selling price predicts no demand.
