A flat part or sign

Start with the finished size and the process: cutting, surface marking or engraving.

Write the part before the machine.

  1. Record the material composition, coating and thickness.
  2. Record the finished width/depth and whether rotation is acceptable.
  3. Choose the result: a through-cut, a surface mark, depth engraving or coating removal.
  4. Separate one-off quality needs from production time, repeatability and operating costs.

A 420 × 400 mm planar example

The source-stated B1 work area is 450 × 440 mm. RAY5 areas are smaller on at least one axis. That narrows a dimension question; it does not establish material compatibility, clearance, clamping or an operating recipe.

A part outline against the stated area

Same scale, unrotated planar example: 420 × 400 mm. The solid surface is the source-stated work area; the dashed copper outline is the example part.
